Since We Have This Ministry ()
Rev. William L. Barron, July 23, 2017Part of the Morning Worship at North Greenville Church series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
Since the Fall, God has been working to reconcile sinners to Himself. In Exodus 34, God's glory reflected in the face of Moses, who had been in the presence of God, scared the people. They wanted Moses to veil his face. Paul, on the road to Damascus, was blinded by the glory of the risen Christ. Isaiah, as recounted in chapter 6, witnessed the smoke and shaking foundations of the heavenly temple in the presence of God. Birth in the Spirit is liberating from the bondage of the law. The purposes of the law are to restrain sin, to promote righteousness, to teach us how to live as believers and to convict us of sin. It forms part of our conscience. It brings repentance to those who do not have a veil over our heart. We are entrusted with witnessing to the gospel as life-giving reconciliation as it comforts us, in order to comfort others as well. We witness with the truth, not with guile, cunning, or watering down the truth. We do not point to ourselves, but to Christ. We thus share in God's ministry of reconciliation.
